the LADY LAIR

Mid-century Modern | Unpopular opinion: Mid-century Modern design isn’t our absolute favorite – ack! We said it and can’t go back! When a home leans 100% into one genre, designs often fall flat. However, the intrigue for this home (and its dreamy owner as our client!) had us motivated by the challenge, and eager to infuse our transitional + unique aesthetic in a historical MCM home. This objective sparked 3 words as our north star: elevated, tonal, textural.

What often goes uncredited in interior design is the ability to solve problems. Design should also be intentional, playful, and always dance between impactful, interesting, and conversational. Each of these combined ultimately prompted this client to leverage a designer. After landing a space she owned, we had a recipe for success with our ingredients being: room to spread out and create cohesion, a budget that afforded her room to play, get creative, and take risks. The cherry on top: her blessing for full creative autonomy, which expanded her style, finally feeling authentically represented.

The result: Creative integration of existing pieces and new ones. A nod to mid-century architecture, fused with transitional design + décor, creating a space that’s the truest expression of home she’s known.
